Ethiopia planted over 350 million trees on Monday, breaking the record established by India. The Fana Broadcasting Corporate, among others, announced that the operation surpassed the initial goal of planting 200 million trees.
The project is part of a government program to plant 4 billion trees in the second half of the fiscal year.
The Green Legacy campaign was launched on May 26 by Premier Abiy Ahmed. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, over 2.6 billion trees have been planted in two months.
