COVID -19, Confirmed Cases Nears 150 Thousand. South Africa Country Most hit

The week begins with the trend of new COVID-19 cases on the rise in Africa. Approximately 145 thousand people resulted positive to Coronavirus tests and 4,419 lost their lives due to complications linked to the infection.

These are the numbers released by the regional office of the World Health Organization (WHO), updating the number of confirmed cases in the 54 African countries to 144,702. There have been over 61,000 recoveries.

Most of the contagion was diagnosed in South Africa where 32,683 confirmed cases and 683 deaths have been reported.

Egypt has reported the highest number of deaths due to complications linked to the COVID-19; 913 out of 23,449 confirmed cases.
