Emergencies, The United Nations’ Financial Commitment to “Appeals” for Humanitarian Aid

Africa is plagued by multiple emergencies, and many African countries are hit by more than one. The United Nations’ calls for humanitarian aid for emergencies in these countries in 2019 reached over 40% of the total amount of United Nations operations worldwide. Almost all United nations appeals (16 out of 17) were financed with rates ranging between 23 and 48%.
